Gas Pressure Reduction Station in Châtelineau: Custom Protective Enclosure by MECAWA
Study, design, production and installation of a metal protective enclosure for a gas station
1) Context
As part of its continuous improvement efforts for the gas distribution network, ORES has recently commissioned a new pressure reduction station with a capacity of 1000 Nm³/h in Châtelineau Haies, Belgium.
This installation, which regulates gas pressure before distribution to end-users, required a durable and secure protective enclosure, well-integrated within its urban environment.
Key priorities included safety, longevity, and aesthetic integration, in full compliance with local regulations.
2) Partnership
For this strategic project, ORES selected MECAWA as its partner, primarily due to MECAWA’s proven expertise in the design, manufacture and installation of aluminium protective enclosures, tailored specifically for technical gas infrastructure.
MECAWA offers complete control of the project lifecycle — from engineering studies to on-site installation — delivering bespoke, robust and visually integrated solutions. Its in-depth knowledge of the technical requirements for gas pressure reduction stations made MECAWA a trusted and natural choice for this demanding assignment.
This partnership is built on shared values of quality, reliability, and long-term performance, serving the critical infrastructure needs of ORES.
3) Design, Engineering, Production and Installation
MECAWA was tasked with designing, manufacturing, and installing a custom protective enclosure for the pressure reduction station.
The compact building measures 4600 x 3500 x 3400 mm, constructed entirely from aluminium for its lightweight, corrosion resistance, and structural performance.
The exterior features composite cladding with a brick-effect finish, blending in with the surroundings, while the insulated tiled roof panels provide excellent thermal insulation. Two integrated double doors allow easy and secure access to the station’s equipment.
A separate telemetry cabinet, measuring 2000 x 1000 x 2000 mm, was also supplied and fully integrated into the overall design.
The project involved detailed engineering studies to address site-specific constraints and the client’s technical specifications.
Fabrication took place at MECAWA’s state-of-the-art production facility, ensuring quality workmanship by experienced technicians.
Installation on site was conducted with precision and efficiency, meeting strict deadlines and performance criteria.
4) Résultats et conclusions
The final result is a protective enclosure that combines functionality, durability, and architectural integration — fulfilling all of ORES’s expectations. The building seamlessly fits into the environment while offering robust protection for critical infrastructure.
This project is a showcase of MECAWA’s ability to deliver tailored engineering solutions with technical precision and attention to detail.
Thanks to excellent coordination between the design, production, and installation teams, the project was successfully delivered on time, reinforcing the strong partnership between ORES and MECAWA.
